Cruise Happenings

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -- Mark Twain

Dubrovnik, Croatia

To me Dubrovnik is one of the must beautiful places. Located on the Croatian coast off the Adriatic sea. The water is crystal clear with a bright turquoise hue. Our cruise ship docked about 1 mile from Old Town. Shuttles took us with ease from port to town.

In 1990 the citizens of Dubrovnik became independent of Croatia. Much of Old Town and its surroundings were severally damaged in the 1991 Serbian war. Homes with new roof tops were those damaged then replaced. Older looking roofs are those original to the buildings.

Did you know that neckties originated in Dubrovnik? " The Cravat" In 1660 King Charles II introduced  the expression "to tie the cravat“ the name developed for the cravat in English - the "tie" and "necktie".
             -  The International Day of The Cravat is the 18th of October -
